Geneva’s Board of Directors ensure that the organization achieves its mission to support the advancement of military medicine and equally creates a vision to attain greater potential in the years to come. The most important of the Board’s responsibilities is to govern Geneva’s effectiveness, vitality, and sustainability. Geneva’s Board members graciously volunteer their service and embrace their responsibility, engage productively, and contribute financially. Board oversight is fundamental in ensuring the viability and longevity of the organization, and Geneva’s Board members remain committed to successfully meeting their fiduciary obligations and governance responsibilities.

Dr. Vining serves as the Chair of Geneva’s Scientific Advisory Board. He is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon in pediatric orthopedics & trauma & also the National Medical Director for Surgical Services, Team Health. Neil C. Vining, MD, MBA Chair
Mr. Watts is an experienced Board member and advisor for non-profit organizations, with 30+ years of leadership experience in private equity. He is the Chairman of RAIN Incubator, a non-profit biotech incubator and research center. Jeff Watts, MBA Treasurer
Ms. Cohen is a strategic adviser for organizations dedicated to improving health. She was previously the founding Executive Director at Washington Global Health Alliance, where she facilitated international partnerships and global health alliances. Lisa Cohen Secretary
Dr. Alam is a Global Health specialist with extensive leadership experience in research, health management, and translating evidence into public health practice and policy. She currently is the Senior Program Officer at Africa Academy of Sciences. Uzma Alam, PhD, MPH
Dr. Bertram served 33 years as an Army Physician, Research Director, Laboratory Commander, and Principal Assistant for the Army’s medical product development. He currently leads Regenerative Medicine clinical trials at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Kenneth Bertram, MD, PhD, FACP
Dr. Colt is the Medical Director for the Gary and Mary West PACE. He is a Family Physician with 20+ years of full spectrum clinical practice experience. Dr. Colt served two combat tours in Iraq and retired after 24 years as an Army Colonel. Ross Colt, MD, MBA, FAAFP
Mr. Hartwig is the Senior Risk Manager at Deloitte Consulting. Prior to this role, he served in various leadership roles including as CFO, with vast experience in mergers and acquisitions, business valuation, and strategic planning. Michael Hartwig
Mr. Hornick is the Chief Strategy & Communications Officer for nScrypt, which makes 3D manufacturing and bioprinting systems. He is also a Senior Analyst for SmarTech Analysis, which publishes market research reports in the 3D printing space. John Hornick
Mr. Howell is CEO of Washington Research Foundation, which has provided over $108 million in grants to Washington’s research institutions for the development and commercialization of STEM-based solutions to important areas of public need. Ronald Howell
Ms. Huszar served as Geneva's Executive Director in 1996, President since 1998, and CEO since 2019. Her economics background, 25+ years experience in research management and business development, and leadership has ensured Geneva's enduring success. Elise W. Huszar, MBA
