Director of Information Management and Security

John "Eric" Smalls, MS

John “Eric “Smalls serves as the Director of Information Management and Security for Geneva. He is an experienced leader in Information Management and Cybersecurity with over 20+ years of technical ingenuity, cybersecurity practices, and information technology management expertise. John has demonstrated a proven ability to successfully lead and manage teams, sections, departments, and directorates with over 150+ IT professionals. He has a comprehensive background in information technology, cybersecurity, project management and information assurance derived from conducting multiple local and worldwide operations in complex fast-paced DoD environments.

John formally served as a Sr. Systems Integration Engineer for Geneva in support of Tele-medicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TARTC) and Digital Health Innovation Center (DHIC). He worked with a cross functional team consisting of Application Developers, System Administrators and Information Assurance personnel.

John also has had an exceptional career in the United States Army serving over 22 years in the Signal Corps Regiment as an Information Technology Analyst. John has held multiple leadership positions from Team Chief to Operation Sergeants Major. He has been assigned to a variety of commands to include FORSCOM (US Army Forces Command), TRADCOC (Training and Doctrine Command), USASOC ( US Army Special Operations Command), and NETCOM ( Network Enterprise Technology Command). John has multiple deployments in support of Operation Joint Guard, Operation Joint Endeavor, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

John holds a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and a bachelor’s in technology management from Excelsior University. Along with multiple IT Security, training, management, and leadership certifications.
