Part 5 — Preparing Your Application: How to Develop a Budget
This is part 5 of 8 in the Generate a Winning Research Proposal Learning Series. Click here to download the whole series.
As you develop the proposal budget, it is important that you consider everything you will need to successfully fulfill your research objectives.
Start with creating a budget wish list which can include: personnel, supplies, travel, equipment, etc. Then, prioritize the list to highlight the items necessary to conduct the research successfully. It is also helpful to make note of what items are already available at your performance site or facility for use. If so, you will want to make note of these as they will be included in a different proposal document known as “facility resources” and will not need to be included in the actual budget.
Geneva’s proposal management experts can provide a review of the budget wish and priority lists to provide recommendations. Geneva will source the cost of the items and develop a draft budget that details anticipated costs might be as you refine your project plans. Our years of experience in creating proposal budgets will ensure the budget reflects what is needed for study execution and stays within the funding restrictions.
Geneva’s Technical Review Service
Technical review provides feedback on grant proposals from a scientific perspective, ensuring that ideas have been presented clearly and are well organized, resulting in a proposal that is targeted to grant reviewers.
Geneva’s Technical Review Team reviews proposals for common merit review pitfalls and provides a constructive critique of the proposal content. The team will also provide feedback on responsiveness to funding agency priorities, and work with researchers at any experience level to strengthen the proposal.
