Candy Wilson, PhD, MHSc, MSN, APRN, WHNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN Col. (Ret.), USAF

Candy Wilson, PhD, MHSc, MSN, APRN, WHNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN Col. (Ret.), USAF, is the interim associate Dean of research and scholarship and a tenured professor at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University. She served in the US Air Force, providing patient care as a clinical nurse and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Focusing on overseas deployments, she provided women’s health care in Afghanistan villages for over 3,000 women and children in seven villages living in austere conditions. In the wake of September 11, 2021, Dr. Wilson served as a nurse scientist, leveraging her expertise to drive impactful research initiatives that informed policy and promoted the well-being of women in uniform.

At Florida Atlantic, Dr. Wilson’s research is concentrated on the interplay of sex and gender dynamics in health and illness, focusing on the differences in how individuals of different genders respond to alternative treatments for chronic pain. She also actively fosters connections beyond Florida Atlantic, collaborating with multiple universities across the U.S. to broaden the scope and impact of research endeavors.

Dr. Wilson holds her BSN from Western Kentucky University, an MSN from University of Tennessee Knoxville, a PhD in Nursing Science from University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center and her MHSc in clinical research from Duke University.
