The Geneva Foundation Celebrates 25 Years of Service

Tacoma, WA — The Geneva Foundation (Geneva), a non-profit organization that advances military medicine through innovative scientific research, is celebrating 25 years of supporting and leading military medical research collaborations worldwide. The organization is proud to continue the advancement of its mission by delivering full-spectrum scientific, technical, and program management expertise in the areas of federal contracts, federal grants, and industry-sponsored clinical trials.

Geneva was founded in 1993 by Jane Taylor, a critical care nurse, in response to a request for assistance in establishing a non-profit to support research at Madigan Army Medical Center. Geneva was created to provide military medical researchers and clinicians with the resources necessary to improve the lives of our nation’s service members and veterans, their families, and
the greater public.

While Geneva began under the guidance of two volunteers, in 1996 the organization hired its first employee, Elise Huszar, as its Executive Director. Both Ms. Taylor and Ms. Huszar continue to
work at the organization to this day, currently serving as Chief Strategy Officer and as President, respectively. The leadership and continuity provided by this partnership has enabled Geneva to grow into a robust and thriving organization that is truly shaping medical advancements in the delivery of better treatment options, therapies, and healthcare practices.

Geneva is now a ~500-person organization that supports more than 500 research programs at over 50 military treatment facilities and federal laboratories around the world. Geneva’s demonstrated expertise with various types of federally funded and industry-sponsored research includes basic science, device manufacturing, evidence-based practice, outcome studies, intervention studies, and Phase I-IV clinical trials.

Geneva prides itself on its ability to catalyze scientific and technical innovation by fostering collaboration between the research community and members of industry, academia, and the federal government. The organization extends great appreciation toward its distinguished researchers, dedicated sponsors and collaborating partners, hardworking research professionals, and committed employees, whose contributions are making a difference every day in the lives of our military service members, their families, and our global community.
