Strength with Purpose: My Role in Shaping Soldier Readiness

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach with The Geneva Foundation, I have the incredible opportunity to serve those who serve us. My role is centered around helping Soldiers reach peak performance. I develop evidence-based training programs that improve strength and endurance, reduce injury risk, and support long-term health. Each plan is carefully tailored to align with the unique demands of military life—whether preparing for fitness testing, mission-specific tasks, or recovery after deployment.

For me, this work goes beyond sets and reps. I strive to build a culture rooted in discipline, teamwork, and resilience. I lead through education, using data-driven reports, instructional resources, and hands-on presentations to help Soldiers understand the “why” behind their training. This combination of science, strategy, and mentorship helps forge stronger, healthier service members.

The Path to Becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach

A solid educational foundation is essential to thrive in this field. I earned my degree in exercise science and am currently completing my master’s in Fitness and Wellness Leadership. Certification, like the CSCS from the NSCA, is also a must—it ensures you have the knowledge and credibility to lead effectively.

But academic knowledge is just the beginning. In a tactical environment, understanding soldiers’ physical and mental demands is critical. You must build trust and create training plans that meet individual and unit needs. When Soldiers believe in your program, they show up, work hard, and see results—and that’s when real progress happens.

Recent Work That Inspires Me

One of the most fulfilling parts of my work recently has been stepping into the role of Program Manager supporting pregnant Soldiers through tailored training has been incredibly rewarding. It’s about more than just maintaining fitness—it’s about ensuring safety, supporting long-term wellness, and reinforcing that every Soldier, at every stage of life, deserves top-tier training and care.

Another exciting project I’ve launched is assisting Soldiers transitioning out of the Army who are interested in careers in health and fitness. Mentoring these individuals has been a two-way street; while I support their professional development, I’m constantly inspired by their dedication, discipline, and insight.

What’s Next on My Horizon

As I near completion of my master’s degree, I’m looking forward to stepping into a broader leadership role within our program. Right now, a big focus is reintegration—providing Soldiers returning from deployment with the tools, programming, and support they need to transition smoothly back into garrison life. My goal is to ensure they feel empowered, supported, and mission ready.

Every day in this role is an opportunity to make a difference—to help Soldiers push their limits, recover from setbacks, and prepare for what’s next. I’m proud to be part of that journey.
