Neil Vining, MD, MBA, Concludes Service on The Geneva Foundation Board of Directors

Bethesda, MD – The Geneva Foundation announces that Neil Vining, MD, MBA, has concluded his service on the organization’s Board of Directors after more than a decade of leadership and contributions to Geneva’s mission of advancing military medicine.

Dr. Vining first joined Geneva as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) in 2012 and later served as SAB Chair from 2016 to 2020. In 2018, he joined the Board of Directors and went on to serve as Board Chair from 2021 to 2024. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Vining played a critical role in guiding Geneva’s strategic growth and strengthening its position as a trusted partner in military medical research.

A former orthopedic trauma surgeon in the U.S. Army, Dr. Vining completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, where he was supported by Geneva as a researcher. His long-standing commitment to improving care for injured Service members and advancing military medical research has shaped Geneva’s scientific priorities and strategic direction over the past decade. Today, Dr. Vining continues to practice orthopedic trauma surgery in North Carolina.

“We are deeply grateful for Dr. Vining’s years of service and the leadership he provided to The Geneva Foundation,” said Elise Huszar, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Geneva Foundation. “Dr. Vining’s perspective as both an enlisted warfighter and a combat surgeon grounded our mission in the realities of those we serve. That lived experience, combined with his steady leadership and commitment to advancing military medicine, leaves a legacy that will continue to influence Geneva’s work for years to come.”

Dr. Vining’s leadership spanned a period of significant growth for Geneva, including the organization’s 30th anniversary milestone and continued expansion of research partnerships across military, academic, and industry collaborators. His service reflects a deep commitment to advancing research that improves survivability, readiness, and long-term health outcomes for service members and the communities they serve.

The Geneva Foundation thanks Dr. Vining for his years of leadership, service, and advocacy on behalf of military medical research.
