Geneva Awarded 2015 Business Supporter of the Military

The Geneva Foundation was selected by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of the 2015 Spotlight! on Business Awards Business Supporter of the Military Award, in recognition of the organization’s continued dedication to supporting innovative medical research within the U.S. Military. Presented by CenturyLink and the Business Health Trust, the Spotlight! On Business Awards honor Chamber member businesses and non-profit organizations that have set the standard for exemplary business practices in the Tacoma-Pierce County community. Geneva was nominated in the following categories: Non-Profit Organization Award and Business Supporter of the Military Award.

The Spotlight! on Business Awards reception was held on 23 September in Tacoma, Washington, with an attendance of over 200 individuals including local business leaders and supporters. Geneva’s President Elise Huszar accepted the Business Supporter of the Military Award on behalf of the organization: “Geneva conducts medical research in a wide variety of areas, all for the benefit of U.S. service members, their families, and the global community, including Oncology, Orthopedics, and Infectious Diseases and the most critical and challenging issues facing our veterans today — Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Suicide Prevention. Geneva has grown to now support research in over 50 military hospitals and Federal Laboratories around the world and has managed over $50M in research in 2015 alone. Geneva is very proud to have built this organization in Tacoma and we are committed to continue supporting our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, our nation’s veterans, and their families. Thank you again for this honor today and for recognizing the hard work and dedication of Geneva’s team!”

In attendance representing The Geneva Foundation was Board Chairman Mike Hansch, President Elise Huszar, Founder, and Chief Strategy Officer Jane Taylor, Board Member Pat Steel, Senior Director of Business Operations Kati O’Brien, Regional Grants and Contracts Director Tammie Bain, Human Resources Director Jennifer Griffith, Federal Acquisition Activity Director Marjorie Osmer, Communications and Marketing Administrator Allison Connelly, and Community Outreach Coordinator Missy Zenczak.
