Carly Garvey Wins Geneva’s Q1 Wave the Flag Award for Excellence
The Geneva Foundation is proud to recognize Carly Garvey, a Study Coordinator at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), as the recipient of the Q1 2025 Wave the Flag Award! This quarterly award recognizes employees who consistently go above and beyond, demonstrating Geneva’s core values and advancing military medicine.
Carly was nominated for exemplifying Integrity, Superior Customer Service, Quality, Teamwork, and Respect for All. Her professionalism, efficiency, and collaborative spirit make her an indispensable member of her team.
According to her supervisor, Kristen O’Brien, “Carly consistently goes above and beyond her job responsibilities. Her high-quality work, efficiency, reliability, can-do attitude, and problem-solving skills enable the team to juggle multiple priorities, produce high-quality deliverables, and meet deadlines.”
Carly’s impact is evident across every phase of the studies she coordinates. Serving as what colleagues describe as the “backbone” of multiple large-scale projects, she has been instrumental in ensuring their success—from protocol preparation and GLP documentation to data review and final report assembly. Her meticulous attention to detail helps prevent errors, streamline processes, and maintain the highest standards of research integrity.
Her expertise has been critical in groundbreaking studies, including the first-ever GLP NHP study conducted in BSL-4 conditions with a signed GLP Final Report—an effort praised by FDA auditors for its precision and execution. In subsequent GLP studies, Carly’s leadership and coordination were crucial in managing complex designs that involved pharmacokinetic analysis, genomics, and advanced laboratory procedures. Time and again, she has proven irreplaceable, with sponsors and auditors alike recognizing her unique skill, dedication, and ability to deliver excellence under pressure.
Congratulations, Carly, and special recognition to all of the Q1 nominees for their outstanding contributions to Geneva’s mission of advancing military medicine.
