Building Stronger Soldiers: My Journey as a Strength and Conditioning Coach

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach with The Geneva Foundation, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most dedicated soldiers. My mission is to help these service members reach their full physical potential through structured, science-based training programs. Every day, I combine my passion for fitness with a commitment to service, ensuring our soldiers stay mission-ready, recover faster from injuries, and maintain lifelong health.

Here’s a closer look at what I do, the path that brought me here, and the exciting work ahead.

My Role with Geneva and the Impact I’ve Made

As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, I work closely with command teams to develop and implement training programs that directly improve soldier performance. One of my key responsibilities is designing customized physical training routines that meet the unique demands of military life.

In my role, I prioritize reconditioning injured soldiers to help them recover effectively and confidently return to duty. My role also embraces the female soldier, and I lead programming that helps women after pregnancy, helping them stay strong, healthy, and ready for future challenges.

The Experience Behind the Role

To do what I do, you need a strong foundation in education and hands-on experience. I earned a degree in Exercise Science and hold a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the NSCA. But beyond the credentials, working with athletes and military personnel has taught me the importance of adaptability, leadership, and communication.

My passion for tactical fitness stems from my experience in the Army. As an Infantry Team Leader under 1-325 AIR, 2nd BCT, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC, I had the privilege of leading early fitness initiatives by coaching a squad with the highest average Army Physical Fitness Test scores in the company, leading a ten-man squad to victory in two physical fitness competitions, and helping establish battalion-level standard operating procedures for close-quarters combat.

After the Army, I transitioned to the private sector. For seven years, I was able to build on my skills and education to train the general population, high school students, and collegiate athletes creating the methodology I possess today. After transitioning to my current role with Geneva, I am grateful to have the opportunity to bring the skills I learned in various roles back to the military population.

Recent Work That Excites Me Most

One of the highlights of my recent work has been supporting our soldiers through improving fitness capabilities. It is incredibly rewarding to watch them train hard, improve their scores, and achieve career milestones.

It’s not just about writing workout plans—it’s about understanding each soldier’s needs and helping them succeed, whether they’re recovering from an injury, preparing for deployment, or aiming to improve their fitness test scores.

What’s Next on the Horizon

Looking ahead, I am excited for the expansion of our strength and conditioning efforts across three more brigades at Fort Stewart. I’m excited to help lead that growth and support new coaches as they step into this critical work. It’s all part of our effort to build a stronger, more resilient force.

Every day in this role, I see the difference that focused, personalized training can make. It’s about more than fitness—it’s about preparing our soldiers to perform at their best, recover when they’re down, and stay strong throughout their careers. I’m proud to be part of that mission.
