Innovating Biotechnology to Promote Warfighter Health and Readiness

4DBio3 is a Center for Biotechnology that develops and adapts promising new biotechnology to benefit Warfighter readiness and resilience. It champions a multidisciplinary approach that combines various Department of Defense (DoD) and federal and non-federal experts across traditional and emerging fields.

Mission

4DBio³ Center promotes the development and application of advanced biotechnologies and services within the DoD to enhance the readiness, health, and well-being of America’s Warfighters, veterans, and families today.

Impact

4DBio³ is a dynamic biomedical research center committed to developing and applying innovative biotechnologies that directly benefit Warfighters and advance medical science. Operating within the Uniformed Services University, it supports a broad spectrum of research and educational initiatives, including biofabrication, tissue culture, and medical simulation. With specialized capabilities in precision medicine, biomarker discovery, drug and vaccine development, and regenerative medicine, 4DBio³ drives critical advancements in military medicine and beyond. The program is a key resource for the DoD and Federal agencies, while also fostering collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners to accelerate the translation of research into real-world solutions. By bridging military and civilian needs, 4DBio³ is paving the way for future innovations in healthcare and biotechnology.

The Geneva Advantage

In 2017, the Uniformed Services University issued a cooperative agreement to facilitate the execution of the 4DBio3 Program. 4DBio3 expanded and transitioned into the USU Center for Biotechnology (4DBio3) in early 2020. Today, Geneva manages this center by hiring and managing all non-Federal personnel. Geneva also provides the center with proposal management, award execution, and close-out for all of 4DBio3’s federal grants.
